Maybe you should patent the modification and sell it to BNZ.

BNZ Vortex or Rifle doserless grinder. Has a good twang to it.

If so, what did you think?

Funny enough, I grew up in Portland.

Sadly, I wasn't passionate about coffee until I had reached adulthood, and moved away.

A year or so ago, I went back to visit my parents, and got to do a mini coffee crawl. Hit the Stumptown on Division branch and tried Hairbender from the source. What a revelation!

There are tons of places around Portland that use Hairbender. Some of them do it well, and other's don't do it the justice it deserves.

Now I'm pining to visit my old stomping grounds once more, but alas, I'm far too busy, and times just ain't what they used to be.

WOW! The consistency of that gind from those photo's is amazing! I've never seen a doserless grinder (I guess I haven't seen that many) so clump-less. I've had a sticky-beak at a few BNZ's in local cafe's lately and am definitely putting it on my 'wish' list.

p.s. Thanks again for helping me out the other day at Di Bartoli's at the intermediate course. As soon as I got home to my Jolly, things were fine again, switching from espresso to ristretto at will. I hadn't used that Macap before (excuses, excuses). I'm still processing the knowledge passed down from you even though it was weeks ago.

Very cool images Hazel!
The 'funnel' you've used here - is that a simple bolt-on replacement for the regular doser?

This is fantastic Hazel! Thanks for the tips.

I wouldn't know 'green-ness' if it hit me full in the face, but I really, really enjoyed the first batch I roasted of these ;)

Now for more roasting fun ...

Hey Hazel,
You won't know me, but hung out a few times at alchemy a few Saturday arvo's, few years back.
You may not realise it, but you taught me quite a bit! ;-)

Anyhow, I reckon you describe that cup well, I can 'picture' the taste.

Shame Australia doesn't have an equivalent to something like SweetMarias for sourcing special small lots of beans..
